Every great business has a backstory; here's Ken's:
"In 1976, my father started a construction supply business that provided concrete waterproofing and masonry restoration materials, to name a few services.
Initially, I wasn't supposed to get into the family business. But then my senior year of college happened, and my plans changed. Back home for some time away from school, I started working in our family business, a stint that was only going to last three months.
Well, three months turned into two years, which then turned into five years and finally thirty years. Along the way, I moved from outside sales to sales manager to run our company's entire New York City operation. I also grew our family business far beyond my father's expectations, all while learning the ins and out of the construction trade in this city.
All good things must come to an end, it seems, and our family and partners eventually chose to sell our successful business, which allowed me to start Gowanus Custom Builders, a long-time dream of mine helping homebuyers like you renovate your dream home."
